APC Will Draw On Buhari’s Experience In The 2023 Zone Elections – Gov. Abiodun

Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, has stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will soon announce the zoning mechanism it will use to select candidates to represent the party in the 2023 elections.

On Friday, the Governor stated that the party’s leadership is working on the zoning formula to be employed, which would subsequently be presented to the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) for approval.

He expressed confidence that President Muhammadu Buhari’s expertise and experience as the party’s leader will assist the APC in making appropriate zoning decisions for various positions.

According to Naija News, After leading leaders from the state on an appreciation visit to Buhari in the Aso Rock Villa following the President’s recent visit to the state to commission certain projects, the Ogun State Governor expressed his views to State House media.

“I’m hesitant to get into the details of this because, first and foremost, I’m not in any position or competence to advise the party,” he said. I am a governor and a party member. And I’ll continue to follow the party’s leadership and adhere to the party’s rules.

“We have a President in place, and we are the ruling party.” Our party’s head is our President. I am confident that His Excellency, Mr. President, will continue to provide us with the necessary guidance and will lead us in the right direction.

I’m not sure I’m capable or have the capacity to begin advising the party when I’m just a governor and a member of the party, and the party has a President. We’re aware that the party is working on zoning, and once that has been codified and ratified by the NEC, it will be made public, so we’ll know where the party’s chairman and president will come from, and things will unfold in their own time.”

Former state governor Olusegun Osoba, Chairman of the Council of Obas Babatunde Ajayi, former deputy governor Salimot Badru, and prominent industrialist Sulaiman Adegunwa are among those in Abiodun’s entourage for the visit.
